When my daughter headed off to college, she took my old Ninja air fryer with her. So when I got my new Ninja Crispi, I couldn’t wait to put it to the test!
Rather than just showing you what comes in the box, I wanted to see how it actually performed in my kitchen.
For my first test, I made frozen French toast sticks using the smaller container. Then I switched to the larger container to cook frozen party wings.
Here’s how everything turned out, what I liked, and a few things I learned along the way.
What’s Included With the Ninja Crispi?
One of the things I like about this air fryer is that it comes with two different-sized cooking containers.
The 6-cup small-batch container: Perfect for smaller portions, like the French toast sticks I made for breakfast. It comes with its own crisper plate and storage lid.
The 4-quart big-batch container: This is the larger option, which I used for chicken wings. It also includes a crisper plate and storage lid.
There’s also a PowerPod, which is the heating unit, and an adapter for the larger container.
One important detail: The small container uses the PowerPod directly, while the larger container requires the adapter.
The package also includes a quick-start guide with recipes to help you get started.
Test #1: Frozen French Toast Sticks in the Small Container
For breakfast, I placed six frozen French toast sticks in the 6-cup container.
I selected the Max Crisp setting and set the timer for eight minutes.
Partway through cooking, I paused the machine to flip the French toast sticks for more even browning.
Here’s something I learned: The instructions recommend silicone-tipped tongs. I didn’t have any, so I tried using a small silicone spatula instead. Silicone-tipped tongs are definitely going on my shopping list!
When the timer finished, the French toast sticks were sizzling and had a nice crispy exterior.
But the real test was tasting them.
My verdict: They were crispy on the outside and no longer cold in the middle. The Ninja Crispi did exactly what I wanted it to do.
With a little butter and syrup, breakfast was ready!
Test #2: Frozen Chicken Wings in the Large Container
Next up were frozen party wings in the 4-quart container.
This test was especially interesting because the Ninja Crispi recipe guide suggested a longer cooking time than the instructions on my frozen wings.
The bag recommended approximately 16–18 minutes at 375°F, while the Ninja Crispi recipe guide listed 40 minutes for its wing recipe.
Unlike some traditional air fryers, the Ninja Crispi doesn’t let you select an exact cooking temperature. Instead, you choose a cooking mode and set the time.
So I decided to experiment.
I selected Air Fry, set the timer for 40 minutes, and planned to check the wings after approximately 18 minutes.
Were the wings fully cooked after 18 minutes?
After about 19 minutes, I paused the air fryer and checked the wings.
They looked crispy and were still sizzling, but appearance alone isn’t enough to determine whether chicken is safely cooked.
I used my food thermometer to check the internal temperature.
The first wing registered approximately 198°F, and a second wing reached at least 185°F.
Both readings were above the recommended minimum safe internal temperature of 165°F for chicken.
The result: My particular batch of frozen wings was fully cooked in approximately 19 minutes!
Cooking times can vary depending on the wings, their size, the quantity, and the appliance. Always follow the appropriate cooking instructions and verify that chicken reaches a safe internal temperature with a food thermometer.
How Did the Chicken Wings Taste?
Now for my favorite part: the taste test!
The wings came out crispy, and I was really pleased with the results.
I served the sauce separately because not everyone likes the same flavor. Some people prefer barbecue sauce, while others might want teriyaki or something completely different.
For my first time using the larger Ninja Crispi container, I considered this another win.
What I Like About the Ninja Crispi
After cooking breakfast and lunch, a few things stood out to me:
- Two container sizes: I can use the smaller container when cooking for myself or switch to the larger one for a bigger portion.
- Storage lids: Once the food and container have cooled appropriately, the lids make it convenient to store leftovers in the refrigerator.
- Easy-to-use controls: I could choose a cooking mode and adjust the time without dealing with complicated settings.
- Crispy results: Both my French toast sticks and chicken wings turned out nicely.
- The removable PowerPod: I like being able to use the same heating unit with different-sized containers.
A Few Things to Know Before Buying
There are also a few details worth mentioning.
First, the Ninja Crispi doesn’t offer a traditional adjustable temperature control. You select a cooking mode rather than choosing a specific temperature.
Second, the PowerPod’s cord isn’t especially long, so you’ll need a convenient outlet nearby.
And finally, the cooking containers become very hot. Always follow the manufacturer’s handling instructions and use appropriate oven mitts when moving hot containers.

My Final Thoughts: Is the Ninja Crispi Worth It?
After testing the Ninja Crispi with two different foods, I’m really happy with my first experience.
The smaller container worked well for my frozen French toast sticks, and the larger container cooked my frozen chicken wings beautifully.
I especially appreciate having two container sizes because I don’t always need to cook a large amount of food.
If you’re looking for an air fryer with flexible container sizes and straightforward controls, the Ninja Crispi is definitely one I’d consider.
For me, both cooking tests were a success!
